Cemetery tour

This tour links six precisely mapped stops from Grossgoerschenstrasse into the southern grounds. The sequence is an orientation suggestion, not a signposted, measured or accessibility-audited route.

Before starting

Check the opening hours and open the official plan on the cemetery map page. Begin at the historic main entrance. No sound figures are available for route length, gradients or continuous step-free access.

The six stops

1. Main entrance on Grossgoerschenstrasse

The historic gate is the clearest visitor entrance. The café, flower shop and toilet stand close by.

2. Cemetery history board

Near the start of the path, the board provides a first chronological frame for the grounds opened in 1856.

3. Cemetery chapel

The chapel is the architectural centre. From here, the rectilinear path plan and mature tree cover are especially legible.

4. 20 July 1944 memorial

This place commemorates resistance figures while also drawing attention to graves lost through Nazi-era restructuring.

5. Von Hansemann family mausoleum

The burial complex illustrates the representative character of nineteenth-century Berlin funerary architecture.

6. Denk MAL positHIV

The southern stop represents newer memorial culture and people whose stories were long given little visibility in cemeteries.
